The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs at Lehigh University aims to provide information about ORCID and SciENcv in an effort to assist Lehigh’s research community. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact your Contract & Grant Specialist. We are here to help guide you and answer any questions.
NSF
NSF has partnered with the National Institutes of Health to use SciENcv: Science Experts Network Curriculum Vitae as the NSF-approved format for use in preparation of the biographical sketch section of an NSF proposal. Adoption of a single, common researcher profile system for federal grants reduces administrative burden for researchers.
Proposers must use SciENcv to prepare their biographical sketches for proposals to NSF.
SciENcv will produce an NSF-compliant PDF version of the biographical sketch. Proposers must save this document and submit it as part of their proposal via Research.gov or Grants.gov. Starting May 20, 2024, biographical sketches should no longer include information on synergistic activities. These activities must instead be listed in the new Synergistic Activities document. Use of an NSF-approved format for the biographical sketch and the current and pending documents has been required since the implementation of the PAPPG (NSF 20-1),
NIH
The NIH has been working with the NSF and other federal agencies on developing and adopting Common Forms for the Biosketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support. The Common forms have been cleared by OSTP and OMB and new forms are posted on the NSF website.
NIH Adoption Estimated Timeline:
- Common Forms (Biosketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support) Implementation: January 2025
- The NIH will ultimately require the use of SciENcv for the development of Common Forms. Templates will be available by May 2025
Until the Common Forms are fully adopted by the NIH, NIH requires applicants and recipients use the current NIH Biosketch and Other Support formats for applications, JIT Reports and RPPRs.
