Lehigh University’s Strategy, announced in 2023, focuses in part on investing in strategic interdisciplinary research. In support of that initiative, the university has launched the following three University Research Centers:

  • Center for Catastrophe Modeling - Established in 2024, this center is an interdisciplinary home for the scientific and educational activities of a large number of scholars who have been working on catastrophe modeling and resilience applied to natural disasters and health related threats

  • Center for Advancing Community Electrification Solutions - Established in 2025, this center aims to transform how communities use electricity by creating efficient, reliable, and self-sustaining energy systems.

  • Center for Community-Driven Assistive Technologies - Established in 2025,  this center aims to transform the lives of people with disabilities through interdisciplinary research and cutting-edge assistive technologies.

These interdisciplinary, cross-college research centers are an important part of our growing interdisciplinary ecosystem designed to tackle complex societal challenges and elevate Lehigh’s research impact.
