Policy: Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Training Policy

Public Comment Period: October 7, 2025 – October 21, 2025

Overview

The policy documents the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) training requirements applicable to Lehigh University faculty, staff, and students, and the university’s plan to comply with funding agency requirements related to RCR training. 

The draft policy replaces the university’s existing RCR policy that was originally issued in June 2010.

This change is being made in order to:
  • comply with National Institutes of Health (NIH) RCR training requirements,
  • comply with National Science Foundation (NSF) RCR training requirements, and
  • include all populations that need to complete RCR training. 
Who is impacted by this change:
  • Faculty members
  • Post-doctoral researchers
  • Doctoral students
  • Master’s Students completing research-based thesis or project work related to their degree
  • College and Department staff
  • Staff in the Office of the Vice Provost for Research stem
  • PIs and other personnel supported with NIH and/or NSF funds
Timing:

This draft policy will be finalized and made effective after the public comment period ends and any necessary final revisions are made. The public comment period is from October 7, 2025 to October 21, 2025. During the public comment period, the draft policy will be posted to the Research Integrity website and relevant communications will be issued.
